Product Review - Alba Botanica Hawaiian Marula Miracle versus Pantene Advanced Care 5-in-1 Conditioner comparison

Pantene Advanced Care 5-in-1 Versus Alba Botanica Hawaiian Marula Moisture Review

Half-head comparison test

Before the half-head test, I pre-oiled the bottom 7 or so inches of my hair with coconut oil, and then shampooed with Alba Botanica’s Hawaiian Marula Moisture shampoo. Then I parted my hair down the middle and carefully applied the two conditioners to different sides.  I used a LOT of conditioner in each side to make sure that all of my hair was adequately covered.  I left the conditioners on for about 3 minutes.

Left side: Hawaiian Marula Moisture Conditioner

Right side: Pantene Advanced Care 5-in-1 Conditioner

Observations:

Product Review - Alba Botanica Hawaiian Marula Miracle versus Pantene Advanced Care 5-in-1 Conditioner comparison of curl definition and frizz

The Pantene side:

  • Easier to comb after the shower.
  • Dried about 30 min faster than the Alba Botanica side
  • Had much better definition and clumping
  • Curls were well-formed and spiraled better
  • Had substantially less frizz throughout the length
  • Felt marginally softer once dried
  • Curls kept their shape better than the Alba side after being in a braid for an hour.

The Alba Botanica side:

Womp womp.

Unfortunately, I didn’t notice any positive attributes.  I didn’t like that it was slightly harder to comb through, and that it took longer to dry (I HATE waiting around for hair to dry).

Also, the other thing I’m not a fan of is that I spent $12 for 12 ounces of Alba’s conditioner, and $16 for 38 ounces for Pantene. Oh well, such is the curly girl’s life.

The bright sunlight really makes the difference obvious.

In real life, the difference is even bigger.  I would actually wear my hair out with just the Pantene conditioner.  Technically, I wore it “out” in the above photo (I went to work like that!), but I would wear it out to somewhere special too.
